Afterschool Enrichment Programs

  • In collaboration with external vendors, Lawrence Elementary conducts an after-school enrichment program on campus. This program includes science, chess, sports, and other classes that will allow kids to follow their passion and learn and enhance their skills right here on the Lawrence campus. This is also a great opportunity for parents to make their children learn new skills without having to drive them to different
    places for these activities.

The PTO and our Afterschool Enrichment Team do not deliver the curriculum but are facilitators of this program. Individual vendors control the enrollment, curriculum, coaches and structure of these classes. Registration fees are paid to the individual vendor websites or as specified by the class instructor.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  •

Can TK and K students enroll in an after-school program?

Most classes are tailored for students in grades 1-5. You can check with individual vendors to see if the program can accommodate younger students.

When do after-school enrichment classes start?

All classes start 10 minutes after school dismissal. The start time of the classes is as follows.

    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 3:00 pm
    • Wednesday – 1:40 pm.

What is the meeting point for sports classes?

The students need to meet by the green wall on the blacktop.

    Where are science classes conducted?

The classes are conducted in the Science room.

    Where are chess classes conducted?

The classes are conducted in the Library.

If my child is enrolled in Right at School, who will drop my child in the MPR after the dismissal of enrichment classes?

Students need to navigate between different locations on their own. Since this activity prompts independence on the child’s part, these programs are geared toward older students who tend to showcase independence. If your student would have difficulty navigating the transfer between an enrichment class and Right at School, we suggest sticking with the Right at School program.

Is there Valet available for picking up students after classes?

No, Valet is not available for pickup. Parents need to promptly pick up students directly from their classrooms or the blacktop (for sports) after class dismissal. For student safety, enrichment participants will not be able to wait at the front of the school unattended.

What is the cancellation/refund policy of these classes?

Each vendor will have their specific cancellation/refund policy. Please refer to their websites to go through the policy before registering your child.

Can I cancel my enrollment after registration or midway through the class?

Cancellation/refund policy is dictated by individual vendor. Sometimes, vendors do not process refunds if the cancellation request is made within 6 days of the start of a session (no exceptions, including medical). Please refer to their websites and review each policy to avoid any disappointments.

Will I be notified if my child’s class is canceled?

Yes, it is vendor’s responsibility to notify parents if any class is canceled. The mode of communication can be a text or email and is dependent on the vendor’s preference. The school office or PTO cannot intervene for cancelations and/or refunds.

Can parents attend a class in person if conducted inside a classroom?

Any parent choosing to volunteer in or observe our enrichment classes must adhere to the LVJUSD general volunteer clearance process. All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application, code of conduct form, and have a clear tuberculosis screen on file. If you have general clearance and have been approved by the district, please discuss volunteer and observation opportunities with the class coach/tutor. All opportunities must be prearranged and approved through the enrichment class vendor and/or coach/tutor.
