  • I Want to Make a Team

    Tryouts are highly competitive. All players are guaranteed 2 days of tryouts. Your best chance at making the highest team possible is to commit to playing volleyball year round. This is a huge commitment of time and money, but it is not required if you only want to try the sport.

    If joining a club team is not possible, private lessons are offered by many local clubs, where you can work with a coach one-on-one or in a small group to improve your skills. Rates range from $55 to $100 per hour, with most coaches in the $60 to $80 range. Check the websites of local clubs, or reach out to Buch if you have questions about this.

    Lastly, playing at open gyms or public courts is a good way to get touches. While the quality of play is more chaotic, we like to say "touches are touches" and you will get a bit better. Plus, some of the old pros may be willing to offer tips if you ask politely for advice.
